Star Trek has been experiencing a real renaissance in mainstream Hollywood, and even though the next J.J. Abrams–produced movie isn’t due out until 2019, the franchise will still be in the spotlight. Earlier this week, the trailer for Please Stand By was released, starring Dakota Fanning as Wendy, a young, autistic Trekker who travels to Hollywood to submit her original Star Trek script in a contest.

The trailer shows Wendy’s highly regimented life including going to her job at Cinnabon, walking her dog, Pete, and watching Star Trek before she goes to sleep. When she finds out there’s a script contest in L.A., she hits the road, leaving San Francisco and her daily routine, much to the dismay of her sister, played by Alice Eve and caregiver, played by Toni Collette. In the vein of many road trip movies, the trip to Los Angeles proves to be a little more difficult than anticipated. The movie also features interludes that bring her fictional script to life on the screen.

Complete with Star Trek trivia and a killer soundtrack, Please Stand By will hit theaters on January 26, 2018. Check out the trailer below.
