Whether or not you’re a fan of the potty humor that’s come to be associated with Seth MacFarlane, Trekkies have likely checked out The Orville by now. Though MacFarlane has discussed time and time again his fandom for the Star Trek franchise, even going as far as taking on two guest roles, as well as writing, directing and starring in the Trek-inspired sci-fi series, there were still fans who doubted his loyalty.

Well, anyone who thought MacFarlane was a fair-weather fan or a newcomer to the fandom can take a seat. In November, TrekGenius posted a video to its YouTube account featuring teenage MacFarlane as Captain Kirk in a homemade Star Trek video with his friends. MacFarlane is 44 now, so this video is certainly a couple few decades old. The effects are also surprisingly good for a teenager’s doings in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s.

Check out the video below in all its geeky glory. It’s only about three minutes long and ends with MacFarlane exiting the scene to go to the briefing room, which begs the questions — was it ever finished? Maybe we’ll get a resolution in The Orville next season.
