Behold. The first trailer for Star Trek: Discovery has been released. There's a lot to chew on in this glimpse into the latest addition to the Trek franchise. For example, there is the time frame of this series. Based on the costumes and aesthetic alone, it's easy to see that they are trying to fit the show into the same color theme as Star Trek: Enterprise. Of course, they also come right out and proclaim in gold print, "Ten years before Kirk, Spock and the Enterprise…"
Another noteable moment comes when a Vulcan states, "You will never learn Vulcan. Your tongue is too human." This is actor James Frain, who is playing Sarek, father of Spock. We all know Spock is half human, so that begs the question: Is he speaking to young Spock? We're going to see teenage Spock in this, right?
We also get a good look at Doug Jones' alien crew member Lt. Saru. Naturally, there are Klingons, too. The action focuses mostly on Sonequa Martin-Green (The Walking Dead) and Michelle Yeoh, the first officer and captain of Discovery. Much of the action seems pulled from one or two episodes. Still, it's our first glimpse at a new Star Trek TV series in 12 years.
Star Trek: Discovery is slated to being this fall. Of course, you can watch every other Star Trek TV series in history right here on Heroes & Icons, as part of our All Star Trek block. What do you think of the new look?
